Full course description
The single greatest risk faced for D/deaf students is inadequate exposure to a usable first language. This webinar will review recent research which validates the anatomical basis and time course of the critical period for first language acquisition, and which shows the risks to the development of empathy abilities among children who are language-deprived. These risks of language deprivation not only impacts the educational learning but also the social emotional learning of D/deaf children. Educators will brainstorm strategies via Canvas dialogues.
